Oh my, this weekends schedule looks scary.
But before heading to that, I thought why not talk about something amazing about Namma Chennai? Now the best question for you to ask me would be, how do you pick one Kaushik? Or... Why talk about this in the first place?
Haha, the former is easy, we highlight one amazing thing about Chennai every week. Why? Because we take pride in our city, we are a city that has seen it all, survived the Tsunami, you can smell the manvasam while you still hear notifications beeping, we're the cultural capital that is in trend with the modern world, we Chennaites take pride in who we are.
What is one recent incident that showed the world our unparalleled patriotism and dedication to Chennai and its culture? You were probably a part of it too!
Yep, that's right! I'm talking about how we fought for our traditional sport Jallikattu and showed the world what the people of Chennai can do when we unite, that we're a force to be reckoned with.
It started with just a few but very soon people rallied together, we didn't need a leader, we didn't have to be related, we didn't even know each other's names, all we knew was, we were there as brother and sister, as Chennites fighting for a cause and our right. Very soon over 2,00,000 people gathered on the shores of Marina, only the second longest beach in the whole wide world could accommodate all of us at the same time. Voila, we'd done it, the amendment was passed and Jallikattu was legalized again! Pat yourself on the back my friend.
On that note of warm reminiscence, here's something else we can do together this weekend, we can grow and learn together!
