OMR and ECR are like the Vijay and Ajith of a geographical Chennai! So the answer here is very simple! Just like how Vijay is clearly better than Ajith. There is no debate, it's pretty one-sided. Obviously OMR and Thalapathy! đ€·đ»ââïž

If you ask any of the folks on the southern half of Chennai as to where to go on a long drive, we're going to either say ECR or OMR. Well, we should just say OMR but there are still some who might say ECR. đ€„
Alright, there are soo many angles in which we can look at this. Let's go with the first thing that comes to mind. Long drives? Long drives.
Is ECR or OMR better for Long Drives?
Hands down, OMR. Next question?

Alright, so your house is on the ECR, you start from home fully pumped. You rev the bike full-on, let people know that you're a Biker and you're going on a ride and what do you do?
Correct! Stop every 100 meters in a signal!
I will never understand the ECR signal logic! đ€Šđ»ââïž
Whereas, if you're leaving from the OMR, THE OLD MAHABALIPURAM ROAD! đ
You can keep cruising through. You feel as though you're gliding and floating on air! We have six lanes that ensure that no matter what you can keep going on ahead.
Guess which picture was taken on the OMR and which one was on the East Coast Road?
Very evident right? They're worlds apart!
Clearly OMR being the better world.

The truth is sometimes a bitter pill to swallow Showkali! đ
But yea, they both have their own feel. As a rider, you get different experiences in each. Do you want to zip through a concrete jungle then eventually witness that change into an open canopy with tress as you start entering Navalur or would you rather feel the sea breeze on the ECR!?
Just because of the Sea Breeze and my colleague who's sitting next to me and pestering me saying eventually you'll have to join the ECR from the OMR to go to Mahabalipuram or Pondicherry, I'm going to conveniently ignore that and yes we're calling this a tie and leaving it to personal preference. đ

Showkali shh! Another word from you and I'll say you were on one of those rides on the ECR, met with an accident and admit you in the hospital for a couple of weeks! đ

Which has a better view? ECR or OMR?
Does ECR even stand a chance!? Well, unfortunately it actually does! Probably a better chance than OMR! đ±
Yes yes, I know. You guys have the beach. This colleague of mine is talking too much now. đ
He's like people work in IT on the OMR, get cholesterol and end up coming to the beach to burn it.
For the ride also he was like sea breeze, sea view. If I say highrise apartments, he's like you can see the beach without the highrise apartments. Do y'all have anything other than the beach!?
See didn't I tell you, it's the same with ECR and Ajith, for anything and everything Mangatha daa! Beach daa! đđ

But yea, got to give it to them though. Can't really beat the beach. We still give the ECR a run for its money though with the views from our highrise apartments. Let alone the beautiful backwaters on the OMR like the Perungudi Lake and the magical sunset opposite the TCS office in Sollinganallur which is a place people barely know about!
Both are beautiful in their own way, right?
For the folks here, we just can't give up on the beach and as much as it pains me to say this. This one goes to the ECR Folks! â

Is ECR safer or is OMR safer?
Not just comparing the East Coast Road and the Old Mahabalipuram Road but even with the rest of Chennai, OMR is one of the safest places!

No Showkali, this is a very unbiased opinion. OMR truly is one of the safest places to be in Chennai. No matter what time of the day you might be out on the road, you will always find people! It is always well lit and thanks to the IT crowd working in shifts, people are always on the move regardless of time as I said.
There's a Tea Anna on his cycle with some folks standing around him to always run to your aid. Auto and lorry driver annas always on the lookout. No one can even think of trying anything funny.
A question to all the Singapengal, the womenfolk out there. Would you feel safer walking alone on the ECR or OMR at 2 AM?

Err my colleague just won't let me be, he's fighting for ECR and won't let me write in peace and there's so much content about OMR and ECR that I'm going to do a sequel of this next week and write the rest later! It's a tie for now, but it's very obvious who the winner is going to be.
