This song plays in every auto stand on Ayudha Pooja. Thalaivar plays the role of an Auto Driver in this movie which was a super-duper hit and all our Auto Driver friends take great pride in this.
Have you watched this movie Baasha? Rajnikanth is the elder brother of three, he brings them to good positions in life, they're a happy middle-class family, Rajni becomes a don, has Mumbai under his control. Wait, wait, back up, whattt?
Did not see that coming did you?
Thalaivar's movie Baasha is still crowned as one of the best Tamil mafia movies to date.
Anything this man does is a sensation I tell you.
Alright, now we're at crossroads, do we talk about Namma Auto or Thalaivar?
Guess I'll save Thalaivar for another day, can write a separate post about him, more content for me! *Muahahahahaha*
All over the world, we have cabs but one thing that's unique here predominantly in India and especially in Chennai are our Auto Annans.
No matter where you go, you'll be able to find an Auto which will almost seem like it's been waiting just for you to help you get to where ever you have to.
From the unfiltered exhausts to the overpriced ride estimates, Chennai would not be complete without our Kakki Sattai Annans (brown shirt bros).
How do you think Ola got the edge over Uber? Especially here in Chennai? It was only after they introduced the Ola Auto feature.
When Google maps gets confused and has you running around in circles, it is our Auto Drivers that come to our rescue. They know the city like the back of their hands. I don't know about you but my phone battery gets drained very fast and I generally ride a lot, from one end of the city to the other and it is our Auto Drivers who guide me.
Chennai wouldn't be complete without the yellow three-wheelers adding a bright colour to the roads with exhaust filters that no bullet can achieve.
The conversations we have in autos are so much fun, it'll be the most random of topics. Sometimes about political affairs, sometimes them complaining about how Ola pays very less, most times about the climate and traffic.
One thing which all the Auto Drivers have in synergy with the city of Chennai is that they genuinely care, like they legit care. Late in the night, they become vigilantes for women, if there's a creep following you, all you have to do is to walk by an auto stand and they stare that guy down. My oh my, Chennai and its people really are beautiful.
